Wow! The more time I spend on Yahoo Answers, the more I realize how many people out there are afflicted with chronic frizz and "bad hair days."

At any rate, to make a long story short, since you asked about "straightening" and defrizzing really frizzy and wavy hair, I would like to suggest you make an appointment at a reputable hair salon and get a consultation for a hair relaxer. The stylist who does your consultation will help you determine if that is a good option for you.

Now, I realize that there are home relaxer kits available in stores, but if you don't know what you're doing with the items in the kit, you might end up making your problem worse, so it's best to get it done in a salon, at least for your first treatment.

There is a chemical process now available which is called "Thermal Reconditioning," or Japanese Hair Straightening. Though it can be quite expensive, it has been known to produce incredible results. Maybe this is an option which you can explore.

Use a serum and blowdry down the hair from the roots to the tip. Alternatively invest in a pair of straighteners. Use some form of protective hair product too though. GHD ones are fab, but expensive.

Only one sure fire way... buy GHD straighteners! they are the god of de-frizzing. My hair is awful, when i wash it and roughly blowdry it I look quite monstrous! with GHD it's beautiful everytime, i don't know what it is about them but no other straightener can compare.

I searched for the answer every where. My hair stuborn, poofy and wavy hair. Here is my suggestion:

Use a very strong conditioner that almost relaxes your hair. You could use Loreal Nature's Therapy, Mega Moisture formula. Then use some Kiehl's heat protecting, straightening cream on your towel dried hair and blow dry your hair so it is completely dry. Then use a ceramic iron, like Chi.

I do this every week and I have the healthiest set of hair.
