The top layer of my hair is a puff ball, but the stuff underneath is soft, smooth and silky. I don't know why they are different. My mom's cousin said it's because it's the part that gets hit by all the wind, rain, bla bla bla. The bottom layer is not even an inch off my head, but when they puff comes on, it's at least four inches extra. I don't want any weird complicated solutions, and I don't want to straighten it. What should I do? What if I cut the top stuff shorter, do you think it would grow out smooth?

i've found some good products. what i usually do is use some creamy leave-in conditioner, comb/brush that through, then i use one of the curl products from "samy" (brand) and scrunch my hair (with my hands). i can't blow-dry because it will get poofy so i let it air-dry and sometimes spray it with some leave-in shine spray, something like citri-shine....hope this helps!
