My sister has the same problem - she uses a flat brush that has a padded center - and is relatively large compared to most brushes. After she brushes, though, her hair is still frizzy, so she uses mousse to keep it under control - just a little bit, and then scrunch it using a washcloth. The light moisture from the mousse will keep those frizzes under control, and you'll look FABULOUS!

I have curly hair and I know that you shouldn't ever use a hair brush on curly/wavy hair. Go to any store that sells hair things and buy a fro pick or a really wide toothed comb. I know you don't have a fro, but the pick really helps to get the knots out and keep the curl intact without frizzing. Don't over comb. Be as gentle as possible, because broken hair looks frizzier. When looking at combs/picks, go for the one that has the widest-spaced teeth. It helps to use some sort of anti-frizz products on your hair when it is wet. Another tip, never brush your hair when it's wet. Only comb. Hair is weakest when wet, and a brush is too harsh and damaging, especially on curly/wavy hair. While wet, comb your hair smooth and put in a curl spray. Coax the hair to wave or curl, and let air dry. To speed things up, you could also use a diffuser. When you wake up, to avoid frizz, run your fingers through your hair thoroughly.

i have really curly looks like a perm hair and i have to use an afro comb to prevent it from frizzing. when i leave it natural i dont brush it or use normal combs after it is dry i just use the afro comb.
